At the Helm: the role of leadership in health anchor work

Senior buy-in and leadership action is vital to the success of anchor work - but what exactly does it mean to lead an anchor mission effectively?

In this online event, rescheduled for 24 January 2023, we will explore the building blocks of anchor leadership at different levels, roles and across health organisations. We will hear from:

  • Lord Victor Adebowale CBE (Chair of the NHS Confederation)

  • Dame Jackie Daniel (CEO at Newcastle Hospitals)

  • Salma Yaqoob (Director for Health Inequalities, Birmingham ICS Program).

Speakers will discuss the four key themes featured in HALN’s one page product.

The event will be for anyone working on implementing a health anchor strategy, with a focus on anchor leads, non-Executive and Executive Directors, CEOs and middle level and frontline managers. We will explore questions such as:

  • What does it mean to lead anchor work effectively?

  • How might leadership qualities be different for someone at the helm of an anchor strategy?

  • What examples are there of effective leadership structures and what can we learn from these?

  • What is the relationship between assigned leaders and the shared accountability across an organisation required to build an anchor movement?

  • What are the different entry points in which leaders can begin to drive and implement an anchor strategy?
